With a 6-1 drubbing of Finland, The United States moved into the gold medal match, concluding their dream run throughout the Olympics. Their opponent is none other than Canada, who snuck by Slovakia 3-2.
The stage is perhaps the most epic since the “Miracle on Ice: The pre-Olympic gold medal favorite vs. the new gold medal. Canada is in it’s own country against a team they lost to earlier in the games.
Regardless of home ice and revenge on their minds, I believe the United States will win the gold medal in Men’s Hockey. The sole difference will be the X-factor of the last game: Ryan Miller.

The Coveted Gold Medal
Miller has allowed one goal in his last two matches, against quality opponents in Switzerland and Finland. Compare this to Martin Brodeur, who has allowed five goals in his last two outings, against equally worthy opponents in Russia and Slovakia. However, unlike last match, I don’t believe that the US will be horribly out shot, thus taking the pressure off Miller and perhaps putting more pressure on Brodeur. The defense of the United States can produce goals similar to the last performance, they will win the game.As I’ve said, there can be no better match up for the gold medal game. It’s the Cream of the Crop.
