With a strong display of cultural diversity and unity among Canada and the international community of athletes in the Closing Ceremony last night at Vancouver, the Winter Olympics finally ended. The results of each intense and nerve-wrecking sport and history of the athletes made us cry, smile, sigh, and appreciate more.
Many athletes were “found” or given renown (some others gained even more), especially Lindsey Vonn the best female ski racer in the U.S.
However I’m so sick and tired of seeing the U.S media describe Lindsey Vonn as the sexiest female star in the 2010 Winter Olympics. These kind of guys were probably the ones who were bribed to put Lindsey Vonn in her swimsuit on the cover of Sports Illustrated. But guys… seriously I like Lindsey Vonn as an athlete not a sexy fashion icon.
To resist such corrupted forms of media, I set out on a quest to pick the Three Goddesses of the Vancouver Winter Olympics based on their appearance and partly on their personality.
First place.
Kiira Korpi
No one can (or should) disagree with this pick. Two thumbs up for Kiira Korpi. She’s truly a gorgeous fairy, worthy of stepping on any other person as a footstool. Looking through the thesaurus, I could find no word to truly describe her looks.
Team: Finland
Age: 21 Height: 5′ 6” Weight: 114 lbs
Birth Place: Tampere, Finland
Events: Figure Skating, Ladies
Kiira Korpi is a Finnish ice skater and is ranked 11th in the world, she stood out as a highlight in the Nordic Championships and the Merano Cup. She’s known to be cheery and known as quite a princess. She is nicknamed the “Ice Princess” due to her resemblance with Grace Kelly.
Second place.
Tanith Belbin

She should be on Hollywood’s films, a much better choice than the actresses we see today. What I don’t understand about the U.S media is that Belbin actually gets less attention than Lindsey Vonn. Seriously? We need to investigate into this issue, it’s much more serious than anything else in the world!
Team: United States
Age: 25 Height: 5′ 6” Weight: 114 lbs
Birth Place: Kingston, Canada
Tanith Belbin’s background is much more interesting than Lindsey Vonn’s too. For instance, Belbin holds a dual-citizenship which means she has two nationalites, American and Canadian. Furthermore, she was chosen as the U.S representative along with Benjamin Agosto to ice dance.
Third place
Asada Mao
This is one of the most rarest moments that I actually wished to become wooden chopsticks instead of anything else. Asado Mao was the world’s favorite for the figure skating gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics right next to Kim Yu Na. She received a silver medal for the Olympics due to Kim Yu Na’s “perfect” performance. She said she was dissapointed with the results of the competition which just shows her willingness to go even further along with her toughness to shoulder the pressure from her country and the Olympics. Cheer up Mao! There’s always next time.
Team: Japan
Age: 19 Height: 5′ 4” Weight: 110 lbs
Birth Place: Aichi, Japan
Events: Figure Skating, Ladies
In the past, she was also the 2008 World Champion and is the ONLY woman to have performed two triple-axel jumps in a program at an ISU competition and the only woman who accomplished three triple-axel jumps in both the 2010 Winter Olympics and an ISU competition.
So that concludes my pick of the three best beauties or “Goddesses” of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. If you guys disagree, you can just throw a rock at me.
