Gary Brooks Faulkner, a 50 year old American construction worker from Colorado was detained by Pakistani authorities in a Chitral forest as Faulkner was trying to get into Nuristan, an Afghan region that is suspected to be one of Osama bin Laden’s hideouts.
When asked what the man was doing there, Faulkner replied that he was searching for Osama bin Laden so that he can “decapitate” the most-sought out terrorist leader in the world. Officials revealed that Gary Faulkner was equipped with night vision goggles and armed with a 40-inch sword, a pistol, a dagger, plastic handcuffs, and…Christian text.

$50 million for capture, $25 million for information leading to capture.
Faulkner insisted that he will be successful in his hunt for Osama bin Laden, according to the security officials who detained him, Faulkner stated “God is with me, and I am confident I will be successful in killing him.”
His ‘passionate’ devotion to Christianity added to this ‘mission’ has many doubting his sanity.
His brother, Doctor Scott Faulkner, who had given Gary a ride to the airport and supported his ‘mission’ told the media that Gary “is normal just like you and me” and is “not schizophrenic” nor meets “any criteria for psychosis”.
For supposedly an insane man, Faulkner impressively thought some things out.
- He had visited Pakistan multiple times before so that he may learn the language and culture of the locals.
- He had purchased the weapons in Pakistan.
- He had also attempted to blend in by growing a beard acceptable to Middle Eastern locals.
This visit, Faulkner arrived at the town of Bumburate and had security provided to him by local authorities since the region of Chitral borders Afghanistan and is susceptible to cases of abductions and murders of Western tourists. On Sunday, Gary Faulkner slipped away from his security at the hotel he was staying at which forced local police to put out a manhunt for this “American Christian ninja”.
After ten hours, the police found and detained Faulkner. The U.S Embassy was notified along with the “ninja’s” family who immediately notified the authorities that Gary needs dialysis because of his kidney disease.
A Pakistani doctor medically examined Faulkner. After taking care of Faulkner, the doctor told the Pakistani intelligence that Gary Brooks Faulkner has mental problems to which Scott Faulkner objected to.
News of Faulkner’s mission and choice of weaponry spread back home earning him the nickname “American ninja”.
He received support from others including AshleyMariex0 on Twitter, “Gary Faulkner…I support your mission fully.” It seems however, the majority of the public opinion stands that the man is foolish and insane for taking up a mission that the entire U.S military hasn’t completed yet in 10 years.
Richard Snelsire, U.S embassy spokesman, is working on setting up a consular visit with Gary Faulkner.
