Have you heard of the Red Bull Crashed Ice Event? Well I have!

I was in Quebec City, Canada last week, and it was perfect timing for the Red Bull Crashed Ice event. A fairly new event at two years old, it has competitors skate through an ice track that winds through the city. Throughout the track are jumps, large hills, over banked turns and other hazards. These are all struggles for the competitors, as it goes against the purpose of skates. The competitors must land their jumps perfectly to avoid falling and must weave through the hills to make sure they don’t soar out of control. Regardless of this, many competitors often fall, which in my viewing of the event, is extremely amusing. In this year’s Crashed Ice event, Germany’s Martin Neifnecker won the title of Red Bull Crashed Ice World Champion. The champion takes home $5,000.
