I am publicly announcing my intentions to run for Register of Deeds in Cheshire County, New Hampshire against incumbent Evelyn Hubal. Hubal was first elected as Register of Deeds in 1974, and has run unopposed since 2000 (election results prior to 2000 were not available online).
The Registry of Deeds is the office that processes information as it relates to the selling and buying of property. It is a public office open to the legal profession and general public for researching the records.
Besides deeds, mortgages, liens and attachments, there are various other types of documents pertaining to land records filed with the Registry. Plans of properties that have been surveyed and recorded will also be found in the Registry, but not all properties have a survey.
The office has a yearly budget over $359,000 per year, which includes a $54,000/yr salary for the elected Register of Deeds.
If elected, I will work to abolish this office!
I will be seeking the Libertarian Party nomination at the NH LP nominating convention on June 9. If I do not obtain the LP nomination, I will file as an independent candidate.
