ENEL & the Other Greedy Companies Must Pay For Their Crimes!

ENEL, with its subsidiaries EMGESA and ENDESA, is about to start construction of a mega dam on the Magdalena River, Colombia (El Quimbo). The lands along a 1500 kilometer long course will be infertile due to the lack of water. More than 8,000 hectares of Amazonian natural reserve will also be flooded. The flora and fauna will of course die. Many farmers will become poor just for a dam that will be out of order in just 20 years.

There are many projects in South America which resemble the Magdalena project. In the last two years, many peaceful peoples have been forced off of their lands. Their happiness was destroyed by the few, powerful and greedy people who cowardly disdain Mankind.

The communities of the Ixil people and their lands in Guatemala will soon be destroyed and “traded” for a large sum of money. ENEL-ENDESA is also building another mega dam, called Hydroaysen, in the Chilean Patagonia.

This dam will destroy the local ecosystem and produce a climate change of about 4 centigrade degrees.

Elsewhere, the Kayapo of Brazil will be forced to abandon their ancestral homeland as a mega dam built by Norte Energia will flood where they live.

The Huicholls of Mexico are also in danger due to the construction of a First Majestic mine which will dig into sacred lands and obliterate ancient culture.

In addition, the aforementioned projects by ENEL-ENDESA in Colombia and Guatemala both affect the Amazon.
So a large area of the Amazonian rainforest will be destroyed…who then will create the vast part of today’s worldwide oxygen supply?

The devastation of rainfall patterns in Patagonia will needlessly create many climate disasters all over the world and not just for the indigenous communities or the local ecosystems.

How can we avoid catastrophe? Who will compensate the Hicholls, the Ixil, the Kayapo & the others for the losses of their cultures and way of life? Many other Colombian farmers and workers will also lose their jobs. Who will help them?

Obviously, ENEL-ENDESA never even considered these questions. Its projects and the mining companies’ projects in South America are, in fact, a brutal ethnic cleansing of native peoples and the destruction of vital wildlife.

Only the human conscience and human action give everyone a change to separate themselves from the responsibility for the atrocities that the lords of industries are carrying out all around the world.

It’s why Anonymous and Operation Green Rights continue their peaceful protests in order to stop the hydropower projects in South America.

To ENEL and others, money cannot save nor make up for the pain you cause Nature and millions of human beings.

Your filthy money cannot even start to replace human beings nor the beauty of Nature.

ENEL & co., in the name of Humanity, it is time to answer for your misdeeds!
